There's a Satisfying Way to Remove Apps from Your Home Screen

If you're like me, you reorganize your home screen every few months. But instead of dragging the old icons and dropping them on that "Remove" button up top, there's a much faster, and quite frankly, more satisfying way to do it.

To try it, after long-pressing the app icon, flick it up as if you're throwing it away. Swipe up quickly and let go, then the app will be removed from your home screen. This gesture is not only easier to perform, but reduces the risk of dropping your phone, especially when using larger devices.

This trick works on most Android home screens, including some third-party launchers. We tested it on the Pixel Launcher, OnePlus Launcher, as well as Nova Launcher and Action Launcher, and this gesture works on all of them. One notable omission is the One UI Launcher on Samsung (sorry, Galaxy users).

The next big software update for iPhone is coming sometime in April and will include a Food section in Apple News+, an easy-to-miss new Ambient Music app, Priority Notifications thanks to Apple Intelligence, and updates to apps like Mail, Photos, Podcasts, and Safari. See what else is coming to your iPhone with the iOS 18.4 update.
