Samsung Confirms KitKat Upgrade for 14 Galaxy Devices

Confirming earlier leaks, today Samsung USA released an official a list of Galaxy devices that will receive an update to the latest version of Android, KitKat (Android 4.4).

The official list of devices:

  • Galaxy Note 3
  • Galaxy Note 2
  • Galaxy S4
  • Galaxy S4 Mini
  • Galaxy S4 Active
  • Galaxy S4 Zoom
  • Galaxy S3
  • Galaxy S3 Mini
  • Galaxy Mega
  • Galaxy Light
  • Galaxy Note 8.0
  • Galaxy Tab 3
  • Galaxy Note 10.1
  • Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014)

While no roll out dates were given, we know that the Sprint and US Cellular Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 variants will begin seeing over-the-air (OTA) updates as soon as today. If you haven't yet received a notification to update, try forcing an OTA update by going to Settings -> More -> About device -> Software update -> Check for updates.

Changes with the latest version include a "more intuitive" UI, enhanced messaging capabilities, and updated Samsung apps, among other things.
