Amazon's October Prime Day sale is underway, and some of the strongest Google Pixel discounts of the fall have already arrived. Prime Big Deal Days runs Oct. 6 through Oct. 7, with Amazon releasing additional limited-time deals three times daily during the 48-hour event.
The biggest question is not whether the Pixel 11 lineup is on sale, but which model makes the most sense at the current prices. The 256GB Pixel 11 Pro has dropped to $849 from $1,099 at Amazon, while the Pixel 11 Pro XL is $999 and the standard Pixel 11 is $749.
That puts only $100 between the standard Pixel 11 and the Pro. For shoppers already considering Google's newest phones, that narrower gap makes the Pro the most compelling deal of the three.
Black Friday is only several weeks away, however, and Google is running competing promotions of its own. Some discounts are strong enough to consider now; others leave more reason to wait.
Which Pixel deals are actually worth buying?
Pixel 11 Pro: The standout. According to The Verge's live deal coverage, Amazon has cut the 256GB Pixel 11 Pro by $250, bringing it down to $849.
The standard 256GB Pixel 11 is $749, so shoppers are paying only $100 more for the Pro at current sale prices. That is a much easier upgrade to justify for anyone who wants the Pro model's more capable camera setup and higher-end hardware without paying its regular $1,099 price.
Pixel 11 Pro XL: Strong if you want the larger model. The 256GB Pro XL has fallen to $999, a $300 discount. The cut is substantial, but the $849 Pro remains the more economical choice unless the XL's larger screen and battery are important to you.
Pixel 11: Good, but squeezed by the Pro. A $150 cut to $749 is meaningful. The problem is what sits just above it. If keeping the purchase below $800 is the priority, the standard model still makes sense. If another $100 fits comfortably into the budget, the Pro deserves serious consideration.
These prices can shift during Prime Big Deal Days, and discounts may vary by color, capacity, or inventory. Check the exact configuration and final checkout price before buying.
Google is running its own Pixel sale
Amazon is not the only retailer discounting Pixels. The Google Store's current offers include $200 off the unlocked Pixel 11 Pro, $250 off the Pixel 11 Pro XL, and $100 off the Pixel 11 through Oct. 11.
Google is also advertising up to $650 back with an eligible trade-in toward a Pixel 11 Pro or Pro XL through Oct. 29. The actual amount depends on the model, condition, year, and configuration of the trade-in device, so the maximum should not be treated as a guaranteed discount.
That can change which retailer comes out ahead. Amazon may offer the lower straightforward purchase price on a particular configuration, while Google's trade-in program could produce a lower effective cost for someone replacing a recent phone.
Older Pixels are discounted as well. Google has the unlocked Pixel 10 at $649, down $150 from $799, while the Pixel 10a is $524, down $75 from $599.
Those offers deserve a closer comparison with the Pixel 11 family. An older Pixel can be sensible if lowering the upfront cost is the main priority, but a modest saving becomes less attractive when newer hardware is available for only a little more.
The Pixel Watch 5 is also discounted through Oct. 11, with $50 off Wi-Fi versions and $70 off LTE models. Those savings are worthwhile if the watch was already on your shopping list, but they are not so deep that waiting for Black Friday would be unreasonable.
How to tell if a Pixel deal is really good
A large percentage next to a product listing does not automatically make it a good buy. Before checking out, look beyond the headline discount.
Check the exact model and storage tier. A promotion may apply to only certain capacities, colors, or configurations.
Check who is selling it. Marketplace sellers may have different return, warranty, and support terms from Amazon or Google.
Confirm whether the phone is unlocked. A cheaper carrier offer may require activation, a particular plan, or a longer commitment.
Compare against recent selling prices, not only MSRP. A big markdown from list price is less impressive if the device was already selling below MSRP.
Separate direct discounts from trade-ins and credits. Saving $200 immediately is different from receiving the same amount through a future credit or after giving up another device.
Read the return and warranty terms. Do not assume every listing carries the same protections.
Storage, carrier requirements, and trade-in conditions can make two offers with similar headline discounts very different once the final cost is calculated.
Should you buy now or wait for Black Friday?
The Pixel 11 Pro has the strongest case for buying during the October sale. At $849 for 256GB, it is $250 below its regular price and only $100 above the discounted standard Pixel 11. Black Friday could bring another promotion, but there is no guarantee the same configuration will be cheaper — or available — several weeks from now.
The standard Pixel 11 is harder to call. Its $749 price is solid on its own, but the Pro's discount narrows the gap enough to make the cheaper model less compelling for anyone who can comfortably spend another $100.
Waiting makes more sense when the current markdown is modest or when an older Pixel is being considered mainly because of price. There is little reason to rush into a Pixel 10 or Pixel 10a simply because it carries a sale badge if the savings over newer hardware are not meaningful to you.
Black Friday also remains a legitimate second buying window. In its guidance to sellers, Amazon says Prime Big Deal Days promotional prices are excluded from the lookback period used for Black Friday and Cyber Monday deal eligibility. An aggressive October discount, in other words, does not necessarily prevent another promotion later in the season.
That does not mean November will automatically be cheaper. Waiting always trades a known price against an unknown one, along with the possibility that a preferred storage tier or color will sell out.
At the current prices, the Pixel 11 Pro is the clearest winner. The Pro XL is also meaningfully discounted, while the standard Pixel 11 is caught in the awkward position of being only $100 cheaper than the Pro. If those prices still feel too high, Black Friday is close enough that waiting is a reasonable choice rather than settling for a deal that does not quite fit.
