Google's numbers within that dataset add a specific detail worth unpacking rather than glossing over. These are Recon Analytics' measurements of the share of Google purchases associated with a hardware-failure trigger in a given month, not a defect rate reported by Google itself, and not a claim that 13% of Pixel units broke. By that measure, Google's hardware-failure share hit 13.2% in July 2025, the single highest brand-month reading in the entire study, before falling back to 5.9% in August, the analysis noted.
