BGR puts the offline language count at 11 total: English plus Italian, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Hindi, Russian, Swedish, Japanese, and Indonesian.
Every non-English language in that list reportedly pairs only with English. BGR is explicit that offline mode can't translate directly between two non-English languages, so a Spanish-to-French conversation won't work offline even though both are individually supported. In practice, offline conversation mode covers English paired with one of 10 listed languages, not open translation between any two supported languages.
That's a narrower footprint than Google Translate's standard offline text tool, which added 33 additional languages back in 2023 and covers a far broader set overall, according to BGR. How offline Live Translate reportedly gets set up

Pixel's phone-call Live Translate already works without an internet connection, according to Google's own support page, which also states that no call audio or transcription gets stored on the device or sent to Google's servers. That feature is limited to phone calls on Pixel 10 and later, including the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and the support page doesn't mention the Translate app's conversation mode at all.
Pixel 11's real-time media dubbing is a third feature. Google credits on-device Tensor G6 processing for that dubbing, but its own Pixel 11 features post from last month states plainly that an internet connection is required and that "translation may not be instantaneous." That disclaimer applies to dubbed video and audio, not to conversation mode in the Translate app, and shouldn't be read as a preview of how the offline feature covered here performs.
Anyone whose phone or language isn't covered by offline conversation mode still has Google Translate's basic offline text translation, which has existed for years and spans dozens more languages than the 11-language conversation list, according to BGR.
