One of the Pixel 4's coolest features is a new voice recording app that instantly transcribes speech into text so you can easily search for it later. This is currently a Pixel exclusive, but we're here to present it to you on a silver platter.
First, it's worth noting that if you have an older Google device like the Pixel 3, you can get the Recorder app directly from the Play Store. Install it here.
If you're not using a Google device, you can download the app below, but your phone needs to be running Android 9 or higher, and it also needs to be set up for sideloading apps. If it is, just tap the link, scroll down and hit "Download APK," then press "OK" when prompted. When the snackbar message shows up at the bottom of the screen, hit "Open," then press "Install" when prompted.
Sadly, the app doesn't offer transcription when it's installed on non-Pixel 4 devices, but it's still a nice voice recorder. The UI is dead-simple, so hit the record button at the bottom to get started, and make sure to give your recordings a name when you're finished.
Hot Deal: Set up a secure second phone number and keep your real contact details hidden with a yearly subscription to Hushed Private Phone Line for Android/iOS, 83%–91% off. It's a perfect second-line solution for making calls and sending texts related to work, dating, Craigslist sales, and other scenarios where you wouldn't want to give out your primary phone number.

There's a version of the Recorder app that does have the transcription. I have it on my Pixel 2
