How To: Get Dolby Atmos Surround Sound on Any Android

Dolby may have made a lot of Android users angry by only offering their Atmos surround sound equalizer to Lenovo and Amazon, but we all know that exclusivity is only temporary in the Android world. Thanks to worstenbrood, we now have a ported version that can be installed on any device running Android 4.3 and above.

This app needs to be installed via TWRP, so make sure you have an unlocked bootloader before attempting this install.

Step 1: Download Dolby Atmos ZIP

Grab a copy of the Dolby Atmos .zip file, then boot your device into TWRP. On most devices, this can be achieved by pressing and holding the Volume Down and Power buttons until the device reboots.

Step 2: Flash the ZIP File

In TWRP, tap "Install" and select the .zip file you downloaded earlier. "Swipe to Confirm Flash," then once the install has completed, tap "Reboot System."

Step 3: Enable Dolby Atmos

Open up the Dolby Audio app from your app drawer, then make sure the equalizer is on by hitting the power icon.

On the bottom of the screen you will see options to enable a Dialogue Enhancer, Volume Leveler, and Surround Virtualizer, which will all help in simulating a surround sound experience.

If you want to further fine-tune your Android's audio, you can also enable one of the Intelligent Equalizers or create your own profile manually. The changes are applied automatically, so there is no need to reboot or restart any apps after making adjustments.

The changes are slightly noticeable when using your phone's speakers, but to really get the most out of them, throw on your best pair of headphones.

That should work fine.

The idea that "Dolby Atmos" is on ANY cellphone is a fraud by Dolby.

The operation of Atmos and the object audio in it requires massive amounts of metadata to direct the sounds to specific locations in the soundfield. Dolby is now just doing what they always do - affixing some kind of bullshit logo on any and every place they can to self-promote.

All that's being done in the cellphones is s`ome minimal off-the-shelf spatial processing. It isn't Atmos. It isn't even close.

Dolby is one desperate company.

First off, don't leave details out. Like make sure you backup your device in TWRP. So as to alleviate soft-bricking your device. Which is what the zip you supplied did. I downloaded it 3 times to check for corruption. Each time a toast notification states "Dolby services has closed", freezing the system up. From clicking OK, the time before next toast is .35 seconds. Good thing I had Titanium backup to freeze the app, after fast tapping. It took a total of 10 minutes of tapping to get my phone working again.

Second, before saying that it should work on any device after 4.3, try using it on multiple devices. Possibly list core requirements needed.

I'm using LG LS660/Tribute, rooted stock 4.4.2 debloated, w/TWRP

i done all these step on my samsung galaxy note 2 n7100
when i open app drawer then select dolby app its give a error
unfortunately dolby atmos has stopped
whatn should i do plz tell me

It does not work with nexus 7 2013 (5.1).. It installs without any error. But there is no launch icon in app drawer after installation. Try them and let me know.
