Earlier this year, Samsung released the Galaxy J3 and J7 to select markets. These two devices are the latest in the J series, Samsung's super-budget series that tries to rewrite what it means to be a budget phone. Now, starting September 14th, you will be able to get them GSM unlocked.
As an unlocked device, you no longer need to worry about carrier bloatware. You also are not tied to one network, gaining the ability to move your phone to another GSM network of your choosing by switching SIM cards. This also lets you travel overseas easily, using prepaid cards which are much cheaper than using your carrier plan.

Great Battery Life
When you combine a decently-sized battery with a 720p display, you will get all day battery life, and that's exactly what Samsung has done with the J3 and J7. Both are equipped with 720p screens at different sizes. The Galaxy J3 has a 5-inch display while the J7 has a 5.5-inch screen. To compensate for this difference, Samsung also adjusted the battery capacity accordingly, pairing the J3 with a 2,600 mAh battery and the J7 with a 3,300 mAh power cell.
Both are paired with Samsung-developed Exynos processors, the quad-core 7570 and the octa-core 7870. Both are power efficient, able to stretch the battery life easily over a day.
Low-Light Cameras
Both smartphones are equipped with high resolution cameras. However, the J7's rear and front cameras have been engineered for low-light environments. Thanks to a fairly wide aperture of f/1.7 (rear) and f/1.9 (front), the J7 can capture more light, allowing it to take clear photos no matter the time of day.
Live Voice Chat
Since many customers looking at these phones will be first-time users, Samsung has included a one-touch customer care service. Using the Samsung+ app, users can get live voice chat with representation Monday–Friday 8 am–12 am ET and on the weekend from 9 am–11 pm ET. This way, if you ever have any questions, you can quickly send a message and get live help from a real person.
Price & Availability
The unlocked versions of the Galaxy J3 and J7 will be available on September 14. The Galaxy J3 will available on Samsung's website for $169.99, while the Galaxy J7 will go for $249.99. At these prices, this is a great offer for first-time smartphone users or backup phone in case of emergency.
