HTC is developing the latest Nexus phones for Google, according to a recent tweet from Evan Blass, a well-known phone leaker.
Blass reported that the new Nexus phones will run Android N, and are being referred to as the M1 and S1. Android Police backed up Blass's tweet and added that a source told them the new handsets will be named "Marlin" and "Sailfish."
This keeps with Google's naming convention for previous Nexus phones, as others have been named after aquatic life such as Angler (6P), Bullhead (5X), Shamu (Nexus 6), and Hammerhead (Nexus 5).
Marlin and Sailfish will be the first devices HTC has developed for Google since the Nexus 9 tablet in 2014, and the first Nexus phones that HTC has put out since the very first Nexus—the Nexus One—back in 2010. HTC also released Google Play Editions of the HTC One and HTC One M8.
