Even if you're totally familiar with all the routes you can take to go home or work, you'll still want to use Google Maps to find the fastest route in current traffic conditions. If you're on Android, there's an extremely fast way to do this.
To quickly initiate navigation to your house or work, simply long-press the Google Maps on your home screen or in your app drawer, then tap either "Home" or "Work" on the popup, and navigation will instantly commence. If you want to make this process even faster, you can long-press on "Home" or "Work," then drag the shortcut out to your home screen to create a dedicated icon for it.
It's worth noting that this process also works for iPhones and can be accessed via 3D Touch and choosing either "Home" or "Work" from the Quick Action menu that appears. Just keep in mind that unlike the Android method, you'll still need to hit "Start" once Goggle Maps opens to start navigation, and you can't add the 1-tap shortcut to your home screen.
